  • Processed with VSCO with e1 preset

This is a Record Store Day special 4 track 7″ EP in neon Pink (limited to 500) from Busan’s Say Sue Me featuring ‘One Week’ from debut album [We’ve Sobered Up], ‘My Problem’ from the 2015 EP [Big Summer Night] and newly recorded ‘But I Like You’ & ‘I Just Wanna Dance’. This release is called ‘Semin’ in tribute to the bands drummer who has been in a coma for the last year, so the 2 new songs are drummed by his friend Casey. This is the bands first vinyl release. Available from Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify or via Electric Muse if you are in Asia.

Aquatically themed reverb soaked melancholia. The bands practice room is located in five minutes on foot from Gwangalli Beach in Busan but it’s the love of 60’s surf that adds a lust for the liquidic, tethered with a healthy 90’s US indie rock inspiration.
Surfgaze became a genre in recent years but acts that play stand-alone pure surf plus indie rock/pop with added twang are decidedly rare. Say Sue Me are inspired in equal measure by 60’s Surf and 90’s US/UK Indie Rock and it’s that odd mesh of Dick Dale, The Ventures with Pavement, Sebadoh, Seam, Yo La Tengo, Mazzy Star, Jesus & The Mary Chain that makes quite unique.
The combination feels natural with admirable guitar skills on display, but it’s Sumi’s low breathy, talky vocals and frank lyrical exposure of her human insecurities that’s the real charmer.

Who are they?
Friends since 5th grade Jae Young (Bass) and Kim Byungkyu (guitar) were introduced to drummer kang Semin and then they heard Sumi’s speaking voice and decided she should be the singer. Sumi Choi was a natural at songwriting. Formed in 2012 they recorded their first album in 2014 ‘We’ve Sobered Up’ and the ‘Big Summer Nights’ EP in 2015.
They played Zandari Cheoyong and Busan International Rock Festivals and won fans throughout East Asia. Semin, the band’s drummer who also illustrated the artwork and is sadly in a semi-comtose state after a fall in 2016. As there is no NHS in Korea, the band, their label ‘Elecric Muse’ & fans raised over £11,000 for his healthcare and hope he can recover with treatment.
Casey McKeever recorded all the songs and mastered them along with Kim Sanghyuk. Casey now sit’s in on drums.
