It’s fall again as kath Bloom sings and time for our November Newsletter.
Damnably’s World International John Peel Day and NINTH birthday was a great fun, thanks in no small part to the bands covering Peel Session tracks from Billy Bragg, Orange Juice, (smog), Codeine, Breeders, Shellac, Ed’s Redeeming Qualities and more. Sabu kindly DJ’ed tons of Peel favourites we’d both selected and it ended up a typical wild night at ungentrifiable Brixton Windmill, where we did begin nine years ago. Thank you all for supporting us, buying records and coming to see the gigs we put on over the years. We also raised a rather measley £165 for Refugee Action but we’ll try again soon.
WOMPS of Glasgow played 5 showcases at CMJ festival in NYC (whole set on NYC Taper and Video Diary) and lost a passport making the last minute invitation to London Calling Festival @ The Paradiso in Amsterdam more stressful than it should have been. The band played the 1500 capacity venue and the set was broadcast nationwide-watch a video here.
Their Black and Transparent 7″ Singles arrived from the pressing plant and are available in our Bandcamp Shop and all good record shops via Shellshock Distribution.
The band have also been announced for SXSW.
Chuck Cleaver of Wussy fame is playing with a reunited Assponys reunited in Cincinnati this weekend. Wussy have also announce their seventh album
will be released on March 4th with a single in late January.
Shonen knife 少年ナイフ celebrate their 35th anniversary and 19th (as yet untitled) studio album with their most extensive UK & Ireland tour to date.
The venues are up to 600 capacity and we believe this to be the biggest tour any Japanese act has done.
