this is the May newsletter from Damnably.
Damnably has just returned from the ‘Overdrive‘ tour with Shonen Knife, smallgang and Former Utopia and we proudly promoted the gigs at Manchester Ruby Lounge, Glasgow CCA (SOLD OUT),
Coventry Tin Angel (SOLD OUT), Bristol Fleece, Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach, Brighton Sticky Mikes Frog Bar (SOLD OUT) and London Dingwalls. It all actually worked really well and for the UK finale Atsuko-the original drummer returned to the drums for the first time since 1999 and sang ‘I Am A Cat‘ and then the ‘Martha and Vandella’s’ motown classic ‘Heatwave‘. We’d like to thank all the bands and all the promoters/venue staff and so many fans that came out and enjoyed such exciting and pleasurable gigs.
The band now begin the continental Europe leg of their ‘OVERDRIVE’ Tour as well as announcing further tours coming up in North America, Australia, Japan and India!
Doors are 8pm and there are a limited number of Advance tickets available at £10
Chris will play 2 sets and use 2 AMPS!
Joel RL Phelps will also be over to play a special Damnably at 8 gig for us in September and he recently did a massive and fascinating interview in NOISEY
and the 20 year old Silkworm album ‘Libertine‘ that he played on was just reissued by Comedy Minus One and garnered some deserved
praise. Check out the Pitchfork review and stream the album at Exclaim.
