Stinking Lizaveta (Monotreme)

Stinking Liz (named for a Dostoevsky character) are easily one of the most jaw-dropping live bands you will see. Their albums are great, but until you see them live, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
Rock/metal/jazz/stoner/doom/SURF/math power trio with electric guitar, electric upright bass and the rockingest woman drummer there is…awesome!

Eclectic style of music incorporates post-rock, metal, sludge, prog, stoner and doom with jazz stylings and eastern influences. RockDetector’s book, ‘History of Stoner, Goth, and Doom’, categorizes their music as ‘doom-jazz’.

They have toured for 10 years with the likes of Don Caballero, Clutch, Mastodon and many others. Steve Albini is a friend and fan – he recorded their first album in his basement and their last album at his electrical Audio Studio.

“We’ve always admired the Stinking ones’ dogged DIY determination (write, record, release, tour—repeat), perfected over their 15 years together, and they seem to be only improving with age.” Time Out New York

DICK DALE

Left-handed 72 year old guitar legend Dick Dale is the Prometheus of modern guitar based rock music, who not only invented his own unique genre of music, ‘Surf’, but also helped Leo Fender experiment with reverberation, increased speaker size and amp power that in turn led to all the rock, metal and punk music we know and love.

‘Straight Edge’ years before it was invented, a martial artist of 30 years, environmentalist with a pilots license, and one of the greatest guitarists that has ever lived, Dick Dale is a true guitar hero and iconic legend. He is loved by Quentin Tarantino (Dale’s “Misirlou” was featured in Pulp Fiction) and generations of music fans from the ’50s to the present day. Also a favourite of the late John Peel for whom he loved to fly over and record sessions.

Dick has beat cancer twice, with the last battle in 2008. He is now ready once again to take to the stage and melt some huge amps with his incredibly fast and frenetic surf rock. They just don’t make men like Dick Dale anymore.

“Nineteen sixties surf records never sizzled as spectacularly… An innovator since the late ’50s, Dick Dale is still running ahead of the pack.” Rolling Stone
